Sunday Memories.
It is still young, but it is my tradition to make each of my nieces and nephews a journal for Christmas to encourage writing in the coming year. In 2010, I merged this idea with my Family History interest. It is a journal of Sundays, a journal of stories. Each page is dated and contains a prompt to encourage remembrance. My hope was that when my nieces and nephews are grown, they will have some stories tucked away to share with their own children and grandchildren.
There was never a doubt that I would be participating in this project, writing every Sunday to answer the prompts. I confess that I’ve tailored my answers thus far to be appropriate for my nieces and nephews. I do not have a journal of my own, however; I have been sharing (and will continue to share) my answers here on my blog, as well as by postal mail to each of the kids.
It’s a lot of postage, but I admit that I am loving the project. I love the consistency of writing every weekend. I love the fact that even though I created the project and prompts, I still have to think about my answers before I write.
If you are interested, please feel free to play along. If you answer on your blog, please send a link back to me.
