That’s just a “down home, folksy sort of version of the following quote:
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” -Jesus in The Gospel of John 13:34
I try to share the love of Christ to anyone I should meet. It’s funny that not all react in kind as they should. As far as special friends in my lifetime, I’ve had a few. One is now certifiably insane, while another figuratively stabbed me in the back. Another became so self-absorbed that any of his old friends became insignificant in his life. Some are a bit shy of even talking to me (A very long story), while distance have made some become strangers.
I still have a few special friends. I still a a few special friends. The others seem a couple of lifetimes away now. I’m a bit reclusive, so I don’t get into social situations where I could meet more people. But still I persist in doing as Jesus commanded.(See the above quote)
