Crazy, Religious, Anti-Choice Commercials

Okay…seriously?

*Sigh.*

I understand that the Focus on the Family commercial during last night’s Superbowl could be seen as a “political” commercial, and thus, may be inappropriate for the Superbowl.

However…(and this is an enormous “however”)…

I really take issue with the fact that so many are spitting fire over a family-centered commercial, but nobody cares that there were at least two commercials last night that featured men and women in their underwear.

I, frankly, am weary of this idea that the only “culture” we’re allowed to have is the kind where women must be hot and controlling, men must be dumb and spineless, and everyone must run around in their underwear and drink beer. It’s about time someone stood up and promoted a way of life that challenges the “culture” of America.

Disclosure: I’ve no problem with nakedness, attractiveness, underwear, or beer. But then…I’ve no problem with a woman choosing to have her baby, either.

  1. LOL Sarahmoo…..beer leads to underwear, which ends up in nakedness, and is, by virtue of drunkeness, attractive (j/k).

    One woman’s testimony of why she is happy she didnt abort,
    is not the ‘say-all’ against abortion; but rather, her ‘opinion’ of
    her own choice.
    The ad obviously had no place in a secular, abortion-as-a-convenience medium….criticism was bound to be the end result.
    At the same time, the majority of the commercials were lame and overpaid for, (except the Doritos ‘dont touch my Mama, dont touch my Doritos’), which is MY criticism of the whole thing.
    Pssst….”culture” doesnt welcome challenge, as ‘they’ are the ‘in crowd’ and, as such, make the rules as they go.
    Ok, I’ve ranted enough now; time to watch some serious cartoons.

    Disclosure: Hot, controlling women drinking beer and running around in their underwear? Now THAT is comedy at its best.
    Myeh…..I guess comedy can be sexy, as well.

      And…most of the commercials *were* lame and overpaid. Personally, I LOVED the Betty White one; and the Doritos ad you mentioned.

  2. Sarah, you have hit the bull’s eye!!! The commercial’s critics had their comments written down hours/days before the Super Bowl! Even though polls show that most Americans are pro-life, it’s the in-your-face “squeeky wheels” that attract all of the attention- not to mention the proverbial “grease”.

    Oh, and I don’t drink beer.

    • I don’t drink beer, either, actually.

      It just truly blows my mind, Steve. Our whole society has gone crazy in regards to gender issues. More often than not, it’s not even a serious discussion anymore. Apparently, the Tebow ad (as well as the Betty White ad) are being portrayed as “violence against women,” which is the biggest can of B.S. I’ve heard in a long time. Like anybody in their right mind would tackle Betty White, anyway. She’s, like, America’s grandmother. But that’s what it was–a tackle. And if “tackling” is violent, who’s going to stand up and defend the men playing football who get pummeled like that? Abuse isn’t gender specific.

      Sorry. I’m on my rant now. This whole thing is just ridiculous. It amazes me that anyone is taking these criticisms seriously.
